Chantecler Garden

Queenstown‘s Chantecler Garden nestles in the heart of the Wakatipu Basin, surrounded by majestic snow covered mountains. The 40 acre property includes 12 acres of mature themed gardens guaranteed to offer visitors a special experience.

The English garden contains almost 1000 rhododendrons and azaleas as well as magnolias, camellias, hostas, hellebores and exotic large trees. Around the house is a formal garden with topiaries, over 300 roses, perennials, sculptures and fountain. And around the pool is a Mediterranean  Garden.

The large Asian garden has a few hundred Japanese maples and ornamental cherry trees with a cascading waterfall and pond. Masses of peonies burst into colour in late spring in this garden.

The native New Zealand garden is large. It contains a huge variety of indigenous plants and a stream and two ponds flow through it. Meanwhile, the Meadow Garden has almost an acre of wildflowers and perennial beds as well as a picking garden. And of course, no garden would be complete without a vegetable patch an orchard, and a field of English lavender.
