Lake Brunner

Lake Brunner is the largest lake in the northwestern South Island of New Zealand. It sits 31 kms to the southeast of Greymouth on the West Coast.

The lake has a feeling of such untouched wilderness, they say that ‘trout die of old age’ at Lake Brunner.

The main and only settlement close to the lake is Moana, on the northern shore. It’s also a train stop for the TranzAlpine train from Christchurch to Greymouth and has some lovely lakeside cafes and restaurants and a very relaxed and nature escape feeling to it.
