Mt Somers

Mount Somers is a small town in Canterbury, New Zealand, nestled in the foothills of the Southern Alps. Due to its scenic location, it is a popular spot for Kiwis to holiday.

Mt Somers Village has approximately 200 residents and in the village you will find a General Store, Garage, Tavern, Holiday Park, School and Domain. In less than an hour you can be tramping one of New Zealand’s Great Walks on the Mt Somers Walkway or visiting historical sights.

Indeed, there is an abundance of things to do locally. You can visit ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film locations. Ski on Mt Hutt. Mountain bike on the Stour track. Jet boat or fish on, arguably the best salmon fishing river in NZ, the Rakaia River. Go ballooning or helicoptering over the Canterbury Plains. And there are also 3 stunning golf courses close by – Mayfield, Methven Golf Course and Terrace Downs.
