There are many different options when it comes to NZ small group touring. But lets start at the top with a deep dive into Grand Pacific’s Ultimate Series of tours. So, what’s so special about them and why are they so popular?
This type of tour is often referred to as ‘business class on wheels’. And we have never seen a demand for tours quite like we do for the Ultimate Series of tours. They often sell out up to a year in advance!
These tours are for a maximum of 20 travellers. So, you travel with a fewer people than you would on most group tours. This gives you the chance to do different, off the beaten track activities, that aren’t possible with larger groups.
You are also able to get more time with your tour director and more personalised attention. The Ultimate Coach Captains — carefully selected for their professionalism and attention to detail — are the best in the business. They are there from start to finish attending to your needs and ensuring you enjoy a personalised touring experience.
Selecting this type of tour means you will stay at a selection of premium hotels in unique locations, or large hotels with a unique ambience that suits the location. Enjoy a premium level of comfort, extensive guest facilities and thoughtful touches that create a long-lasting experience.
These hotels are carefully selected and are often more boutique in nature than the ones where larger groups stay. So, you enjoy a superior overnight experience. This includes daily hotel wine time (discounted drinks!) where you can relive the day’s experiences with your fellow travellers. And you’ll also enjoy relaxed dining, always reserved so you never have to wait for a table.
The choice of memorable inclusions is endless and covers a wonderful range of experiences in both North and South Islands. Throughout your trip your experience will be enhanced by your coach captain’s professional commentary. You’ll learn numerous facts and figures, myths, legends about the sights and enjoy many laughs as you journey through New Zealand.
Ultimate Small Group Touring itineraries are specifically tailored to provide a Business Class level of comfort, service and quality without compromise.

Business Class on wheels
Let’s face it this is the big one. You spend a lot of your touring time on your coach. It’s where you spend a lot of time as your travel through this amazing country.
So, who wouldn’t want to be doing it in the ultimate comfort and style? The coach you travel on is a full sized coach that would normally seat 48 people, but it has had a custom fit out to seat only 20 passengers.
There’s one seat either side of the aisle. So, everyone gets a window seat. The seats are leather reclining seats that have an adjustable headrest and calf support. And the coach is equipped with air conditioning, seat bels and an onboard restroom.
From your seat you have seat-side personal storage which gives you easy access to your travel bag. There’s a personal audio control unite with multiple music channels and a complimentary set of headphones. Plus you have a daily onboard WIFI allowance and there is a USB charging port.
For comfort enroute there is also a stylish centre galley area, which is equipped with a refrigerated drinking fountain and fridge units. And if you hit a patch where you aren’t awed by the scenery there is access to daily newspapers and a range of glossy magazines.
In short: they have thought of everything!
